The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates issued new, high-quality silver coins to commemorate the emirate's hosting of Expo 2020 in its capital, Dubai. Originally scheduled to open on October 20, 2020, and end on April 10, 2021, the World Expo has now been rescheduled. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the dates have been postponed.

July 21, 2020A commemorative coin to honor Hazza Al Mansouri
The Central Bank of the UAE issued a commemorative silver coin on Sunday to honor the nation's first astronaut. The 40-gram coin celebrates Hazzaa Al Mansouri's historic journey to space and his time aboard the International Space Station last September. The coin, which features Al Mansouri's image, is inscribed with "UAE Mission 1" and the date 25/9/2019.

It's delightful to find that those responsible for minting coins abroad actually possess a knack for marketing. Take, for example, the silver coin pictured in this post – the first issue from Niue, near Australia, in 2020. It features Her Majesty the Queen on the obverse, as usual, but the reverse is the reverse of a 1930 Australian penny (and this penny, for those who don't know, is considered one of the rarest coins...).
